A B S T R A C T An automobile trailer-container convertible into an air cushion support base for said automobile (1) incorpora- tes a rigid sectionalized platform (4) equipped with a flexible inflatable air cushion skirt (5) with removable rotor-type power plant (6) and means for coupling them to the automobile drive mounted on said platform (4). The platform (4) of the trailer-container consists of rigid interconnected sections which can be folded into a compact package. The sections are linked with the flexible inflatable skirt (5). Each of the power plant (6) incorporates a blower fan and a variable-pitch airscrew which are mounted coaxially in common ring casing. The platform (4) with its skirt (5) is fitted with disengageable attachment joints for securing it to the automobile wheelbase so that disturbances of the platform and of the skirt are damped through suspension of the automobile (when in motion) on a cushion of air. The trailer-container is provided with steering means in form of aerodynamic rudders which are installed on the platform and fitted with cables for connecting them to the steering mechanism of the automobile (1).
