A trailer light wiring system that includes a trailer mountable plug receiver unit and at least one forward segment wire harness having first and second opposite ends. The receiver unit includes at least one plug receiving member, a rearward segment lighting harness having a plurality of conductors for electrical connection to the trailer's lights and at least one indicator in electrical communication with the at least one plug receiving member. The plurality of conductors are in electrical communication with the at least one plug receiving member. The first end of the forward segment wire harness terminates in a connector for establishing an electrical connection between the forward segment wire harness and a towing vehicle and the second end terminates in a plug for cooperation with the at least one plug receiving member. When the plug receiving member receives the plug and proper electrical connection is established, the at least one indicator is illuminated.
