A training device provides an indication of when the maximum power is exerted in an athletic motion. The training device utilises the magnetic attraction of a steel ball to a magnet. An applied or centrifugal force can overcome the attraction of a steel ball for a magnet and the point at which this attraction is overcome is signalled by a noise or light emission. In operation the training device is placed on an appendage, or placed or incorporated into a piece of sports equipment, for instance, a golf club, and the point at which the magnetic force is overcome is, by adjustment, correlated to the point of maximum power of the athletic motion.
