Plant cell aggregates and plant tissues can be transformed by elongated, needle-like structures called "whiskers". The process comprises the agitation of plant cell aggregates and plant tissues of the plant to be transformed in the presence of DNA and whiskers, whereby DNA uptake and integration thereof is facilitated. The process may be applicable to other plant cell aggregates and plant tissues which have not proven easily transformable by other techniques.

L'invention concerne la transformation d'agrégats de cellules végétales et de tissus végétaux par des structures allongées en forme d'aiguille dénommées "trichites". Le procédé consiste à agiter les agrégats de cellules végétales et de tissus végétaux de la plante à transformer en présence d'ADN et de trichites, l'apport d'ADN et son intégration étant ainsi facilités. On peut appliquer le procédé à d'autres agrégats de cellules végétales et tissus végétaux qu'on n'a pas pu transformer facilement avec d'autres techniques.
