Disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition for treating a human in need of estrogen agonist-antagonist therapy, which comprises (a) an effective amount of an estrogen agonist-antagonist and (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is adapted for application by transdermal means. Preferably the composition is in the form of a transdermal patch or a hydrogel composition and the estrogen agonist-antagonist is a compound of the formula: (see formula I) wherein G is (see formula II, III, or IV); and R is H, OH, F or Cl.
