ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A transducer for measuring vibrations comprising a ferromagnetic housing, a non-magnetic, low friction bush disposed within the housing, and an elongated movable per- manent magnet mounted for reciprocation within the bush. This movable permanent magnet is suspended and reciprocable in a magnetic field formed by aligned fixed permanent magnets wich repel the movable permanent magnet, and has a central longitudinal opening therethrough aligned with a direction of reciprocation of this movable permanent magnet. Two spaced coaxial induction coils are wound upon a coil shell, these coils and coil shell being disposed within and aligned with the central opening of the movable permanent magnet. The respective ends of the movable permanent magnet overlap the respective inner, confronting ends of the coils when the movable permanent magnet is in a central position. The ends of the movable permanent magnet is separated from the res- pective coils by radially narrow toroidal air gaps, the movable permanent magnet being freely movable with respect to the coils and the coil shell. The fixed permanent magnets are preferably of toroidal shape. The ratio of the thickness of the bush to the outer diameter of the movable permanent magnet may be within the range from 0,01 to 1,0. This trans- ducer for measuring vibrations has far smaller dimensions that induction transducers known up to now and withstands big accelerations and vibration amplitudes.
