A transducer for otoacoustic emission instruments utilizing one or more piezoelectric elements. An elastic membrane covers the piezoelectric element(s) and is fixed at its periphery to a casing that surrounds and supports the piezoelectric element. The use of an elastic membrane provides improved response characteristics for a high frequency bone conducting transducer with reduced harmonics in the output.
