The present invention relates to a new method of making the dimethacrylate ester of alkoxylated bisphenol-A via transesterification with methyl methacrylate. This transesterification reaction proceeds at low temperatures and is driven by the removal of methanol as a methanol/saturated hydrocarbon azeotrope. The lower temperature reaction advantageously inhibits polymerization of the feed ester. The reaction is catalyzed by potassium based catalysts.

L'invention concerne un nouveau procédé de préparation de l'ester de diméthacrylate de bisphénol A alcoxylé par l'intermédiaire d'une transestérification avec du méthacrylate de méthyle. Cette réaction de transestérification s'effectue à basses températures et est régie par la suppression du méthanol en tant qu'azéotrope d'hydrocarbure saturé et de méthanol. La réaction à température inférieure inhibe avantageusement la polymérisation de l'ester de charge. La réaction est catalysée par des catalyseurs à base de potassium.
