A method and apparatus for transferring a stack (75) of flat articles from a cartridge (25). The method and apparatus are adapted for use in connection with a method and apparatus for automatically stacking mail into cartridges in output compartments (20) of a sorting machine (15), robotically transferring filled cartridges from the output compartments to a buffer shelf (40) and from the buffer shelf to a docking station (55) of a cartridge unloader and automatic feeder (50) to the input (70) of the sorting machine, and for transferring empty cartridges from the docking station to either the buffer or the output compartments (20) of the sorter, is provided.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de transfert d'une pile (75) d'articles plats à partir d'un casier (25). On a adapté le procédé et l'appareil pour pouvoir les utiliser avec un procédé et un appareil de classement de courrier dans les différents compartiments (20) d'une trieuse (15), transférant de manière robotisée les casiers pleins du compartiment de sortie vers un dispositif de stockage (40) et dudit dispositif de stockage vers un poste (55) de déchargement à quai de casiers et d'un chargeur automatique (50) vers l'entrée (70) de ladite trieuse. On a adapté également lesdits procédé et appareil pour le transfert des casiers vides du poste de déchargement à quai soit vers le dispositif de stockage, soit vers les compartiments (20) de la trieuse.
