Methods and compositions for the efficient transformation of Miscanthus are provided. The method involves infection with Agrobacterium, particularly those comprising a binary vector. In this manner, any gene or nucleotide sequence of interest can be introduced into the Miscanthus plant. The transformed gene or nucleotide sequence of interest will be flanked by at least one T-DNA border and present in the transformed Miscanthus in low copy number. Transformed Miscanthus, cells, tissues, plants, and seed are also provided.

La présente invention a trait à des procédés et compositions permettant une transformation efficace de Miscanthus. Ce procédé implique une infection par Agrobacterium, en particulier par les espèces de ce genre comprenant un vecteur binaire. Ainsi, un quelconque gène ou une quelconque séquence nucléotidique d'intérêt peut être introduit dans une plante du genre Miscanthus. Le gène ou la séquence nucléotidique d'intérêt ainsi transformé sera flanqué par au moins une bordure d'ADN-T et sera présent chez la plante transformée du genre Miscanthus en un petit nombre de copies.
