ABSTRACT A transformer or reactor has at least one sheet winding built up of several turns, wound on top of each other, of a sheet comprising a metallic foil and at least two polymer films. The polymer films comprise, embedded therein, homogene- ously distributed grains of an inorganic filler, and both sides of the polymer films are provided with irregular elevations so that spaces exist between confronting surfaces of metal foil and polymer film and confronting surfaces of polymer films. The spaces communicate with the space outside the end surfaces of the sheet winding, thus obtaining a complete impregnation of the sheet winding with insulating fluid or insulating gas The filler reduces the risk of contaminating metallic particles causing short-circuit between turns of the metal foil and the risk of the predetermined distance between the turns of the metal foil being changed.
