The present invention discloses transforming growth factor alpha HII polypeptides and polynucleotides encoding such polypeptides. Also provided is a procedure for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques and therapeutic uses of the polypeptides which include stimulating wound healing, treating neurological disorders, treating ocular disorders, treating kidney and liver disorders and stimulating embryogenesis and angiogenesis. Also disclosed are antagonists against such polypeptide and their use as a therapeutic to treat neoplasia. Also disclosed are diagnostic assays for detecting altered levels of the polypeptide of the present invention and mutations in the nucleic acid sequences which encode the polypeptides of the present invention.
L'invention concerne des polypeptides du type facteur de croissance transformant alpha HII et des polynucléotides les codant. Elle porte aussi sur une procédure de production desdits polypeptides par des techniques de recombinaison et sur l'utilisation thérapeutiques de polypeptides dont la stimulation de la cicatrisation, le traitement de troubles neurologiques, de troubles oculaires, de maladies des reins et du foie, et la stimulation de l'embryogenèse et l'angiogénèse. Elle se rapporte encore à des antagonistes dirigés contres ces polypeptides et à leur utilisation en tant qu'agents de traitement de la néoplasie, ainsi qu'à des essais diagnostics de détection de niveaux modifiés des polypeptides selon l'invention et de mutations des séquences nucléotidiques codant les polypeptides selon l'invention.
