The present invention relates to a transgenic mouse to serve as a small animal model of AIDS which comprises the entire HIV-1 coding sequences under the control of the human CD4 gene promoter flanked by the enhancer of the mouse CD4 gene for expression in T cells. There is also provided a method to screen for therapeutic agents for the treatment of AIDS, which comprises the steps of: a) administering the therapeutic agent to the mouse of the present invention; and b) determining the effects of the therapeutic agent.

Utilisation d'une souris transgénique comme petit modèle animal du SIDA, comprenant l'ensemble des séquences codantes du VIH-1 sous la commande du promoteur du gène humain CD4 flanqué par l'activateur du gène CD4 de la souris, à exprimer dans les cellules T. Une méthode de sélection d'agents thérapeutiques destinés au traitement du SIDA est également présentée. Elle comprend les étapes suivantes : a) administrer l'agent thérapeutique à la souris de la présente invention; et b) déterminer les effets de l'agent thérapeutique.
