- 1 - Abstract: A translating apparatus comprises a synonym display for displaying synonyms related to a certain translated term in a translated sentence. This certain translated term can be replaced by an appropriate synonym selected from among the displayed synonyms. In this way a more suitable translated term or terms can be selected by consultation of a dictionary contained in the apparatus. The result is an improved translation.
