A system including a database (14) that supports a plurality of client translation devices (16A-16N) is described (Fig.1). Although each client translation device (16A-16N) may operate as a stand-alone translator, each device may establish a communication with a server (12) that can keep the client translation device (16A-16N) up-to-date. The server (12) is coupled to a database (14) that supports the client translation devices (16A-16N) ba dynamically adding, subtracting and changing translation entries, thereby evolving as the language evolves. The server (12) communicates one or more translation entries in the database (14) to the client translation devices (16A-16N).

Dans un mode de réalisation, la présente invention concerne un système comportant une base de données qui supporte une pluralité de dispositifs de traduction clients. Bien que chaque dispositif de traduction client puisse fonctionner en tant que traducteur autonome, chaque dispositif peut établir une communication avec un serveur pouvant actualiser le dispositif de traduction client.
