TITLE A TRANSMISSION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An automatic transmission particularly for a tracked motor vehicle affording four forward speed ratios and two reverse ratios comprises two plane- tary gear trains disposed between input and output shafts. Each train comprises a sun wheel, planet pinions, planet pinion carrier and internally toothed annulus. Three friction reaction brakes and two clutches hold stationary and/or prevent or allow various parts of the gear trains to rotate to select one of the ratios, changes in ratio being accomplished by releasing only one clutch or brake and engaging only one clutch or brake. -1-
