A transmission band assembly (10) including a circular strap member (12) having exterior and interior surfaces (14, 16) extending between opposed first and second ends (18, 20). At least one of the ends (18, 20) defining a bracket (22, 24) having a ridge (26) including an upper gusset (40) in mating engagement with a lower gusset (42). A friction material liner (70) is positioned adjacent the interior surface (16) of the strap member (12).
