A projection screen is provided having a construction well-suited for effecting lateral color constancy in rear screen projection display systems. The inventive projection screen (10) comprises a rigid light-transmissive faceplate (20) and a homogenizing holographic transmission diffuser element (100) proximate said faceplate. The holographic transmission diffuser element is made such that, upon illumination of an area of said diffuser element with a light beam (116) having a wavelength of 400 nm to 70 nm, and impinging at an incident input angle of ~ 0~ to 30~ relative to normal incidence, said holographic transmission diffuser element produces in transmission a single diffuse output lobe (115), the diffuse output lobe produced in one area of said holographic transmission diffuser element having a relative angular intensity distribution and aspect ratio substantially identical to the relative angular intensity distribution and aspect ratio of diffuse output lobes produced in substantially all other areas of said holographic transmission diffuser element.
L'invention concerne un écran de projection dont la construction est adaptée pour assurer une stabilité chromatique latérale dans des systèmes d'affichage à écran de projection arrière. Ledit écran de projection (10) comprend une plaque avant rigide (20) transmettant la lumière et un élément diffuseur holographique (100) d'homogénéisation, à transmission, situé à proximité de ladite plaque avant. Ledit élément diffuseur holographique à transmission est conçu de sorte que, lorsqu'une de ses zones est éclairée au moyen d'un faisceau de lumière (116) ayant une longueur d'onde de 400 nm à 700 nm, et arrivant selon un angle d'incidence d'entrée de ± 0· à 30· par rapport à l'incidence normale, ledit élément élément diffuseur produise en transmission un seul lobe de sortie diffus (115) produit dans une zone dudit élément diffuseur ayant une distribution de l'intensité angulaire relative et un format sensiblement identique à ceux des lobes de sortie diffus produits dans sensiblement toutes les zones dudit élément de diffusion holographique à transmission.
