ABSTRACT A transmission unit comprises a hydrodynamics transmission coupled to a variable ratio V-belt transmission. The hydrodynamic transmission includes lock-up means operable to establish direct drive therethrough, the lock-up means being actuated by fluid pressure from a fluid cylinder which controls movement of one of the flanges of the primary pulley of the V-belt transmission and thus controls the V-belt drive ratio.
