The present invention provides a transmitter antenna for use in Electromagnetic (EM) surveying beneath the ocean floor. The transmitter antenna according to the present invention comprises a current source (not shown) and a dipole antenna (17), the dipole antenna comprising a first electrode (18) mounted on a cable (19) and located near to the current source and a second electrode (21) mounted on a cable (22) and located further away from the current source, each electrode being electrically connected to the current source. The transmitter antenna may be deployed by being towed behind a vessel (14).

L'invention concerne une antenne émettrice destinée à être utilisée en levé électromagnétique (EM) au-dessous du plancher océanique. Selon l'invention, l'antenne émettrice est caractérisée en ce qu'elle comprend une source de courant (non représentée) et une antenne dipôle (17), en ce que l'antenne dipôle comprend une première électrode (18), montée sur un câble (19) et située à proximité de la source de courant, et une seconde électrode (21), montée sur un câble (22) et située à distance de la source de courant, chaque électrode étant connectée à la source de courant. L'antenne émettrice peut être déployée en étant tirée à l'arrière d'un bateau (14).
