A transmitter (20) for a code division multiple access radio access network intelligently preconditions a channel-merged signal which is applied to its amplifier (22) so that the amplifier does not experience, e.g., precipitous power changes. The transmitter (20) comprises an amplifier (22) for amplifying the channel- merged signal at a signal output power; a detector (24) for performing detection of when output power of the channel-merged signal is about to change by a specified amount; and, a noise inserter (26) for adding a noise signal to the channel-merged signal in dependence upon the detection. Insertion of the noise smoothes an edge of the power change curve and thereby averts stress for the amplifier.
L'invention concerne un émetteur (20) pour un réseau d'accès radio à accès multiple par répartition en code qui conditionne par avance intelligemment un signal à canaux fusionnés qui est appliqué à son amplificateur (22) de sorte que l'amplificateur ne subit pas, par exemple, de changements de puissance brusques. L'émetteur (20) comprend un amplificateur (22) pour amplifier le signal à canaux fusionnés à une puissance de sortie de signal ; un détecteur (24) pour réaliser la détection du moment lorsque la puissance de sortie du signal à canaux fusionnés est sur le point de changer d'une quantité spécifiée ; et, un applicateur de bruit (26) pour ajouter un signal de bruit au signal à canaux fusionnés en fonction de la détection. L'application du bruit lisse un bord de la courbe de changement de puissance et de ce fait évite une contrainte pour l'amplificateur.
