ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A transparent soap bar is provided herein. The soap bar contains soap and a water soluble detergent. It comprises (a) a water soluble organic solvent, from 0 to 10%; (b) a sugar, from 0 to 10%; (c) an alkyl-aryl polyoxyalkylene carboxylic acid of the formula: Image wherein R is an aryl, alkyl-aryl or alkyl radical, R1 through R6 are each hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical and may be the same or different, m is 1 to 3 and n is 1 to 9, 1% to 10%; (d) a benzoic acid ester of a primary alcohol or an alkyoxylate of a primary alcohol, the alcohol being of C9 to C18 carbon chain length, from 0 to 5%; (e) an amount of a water-soluble synthetic organic detergent, from 0 to 25%; (f) a "neat soap", from 0 to 60%; (g) a fatty acid, 1 to 25%; (h) a saponifying or neutralizing agent for the fatty acid, 3 to 35%; (i) ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, from 0 to 2%; and (j) water, from 0 to 25%.
