ABSTRACT A transparent polymeric film that provides a barrier to the transmission of ultra-violet light. The film results from the addition of titanium dioxide particles having an average particle size less than the wavelength of visible light, yet greater than the wavelength of ultra-violet light, to a polymeric material capable of being formed as a transparent film. More specifically, the titanium dioxide particles have an average size on the order of from about 0.010 µm to 0.050 µm and, preferably, from about 0.018 µm to 0.040 µm.
