ABSTRACT A transportable boring machine for the in situ bonny of workpieces comprises a telescopic assembly with a rotatable drive shaft for connection to a tool bit carrier rod. The assembly is rigidly mounted over a hole to be bored. As the shaft rotates, the assembly is retracted or extended and the carrier rod advanced into the hole. The drive shaft is preferably driven by a hydraulic motor.
