A synchronization frame is first formated and transmitted in accordance with the Global System for Mobile (GSM) 08.60 specification. After an initial synchronization procedure is accomplished between a transcoder/rate adaptor (TRAU) (40) and a particular base transceiver station (BTS) (50) serving a mobile station (60), a modified GSM 08.60 frame is thereafter used to transport greater user data payload across the established communications link. The modified frame replaces the synchronization bits included in the GSM 08.60 formatted data frame with user data to increase data payload from the conventional 13.5 Kbit/s to a more desirable 14.4 Kbit/s without altering the standardized 16 Kbit/s transmission rate supported by the IWF and the BTS (50).
Dans cette invention, une trame de synchronisation est d'abord formatée et transmise en accord avec la spécification 08.60 GSM (Groupe spécial mobile). Après qu'une procédure de synchronisation initiale a été menée à terme entre une unité transcodeur/adaptateur de fréquence (TRAU) (40) et une station d'émission et de réception de base (BTS) particulière (50) desservant une station mobile (60), une trame de 08.60 GSM modifiée est alors utilisée pour transporter une plus grande charge utile de données d'utilisateur le long du lien de communications établi.
