ABSTRACT Treatment of a steel well pipe connection involves use of an electrical coil and a cylindrical sleeve carrying the coil, and includes the steps of: a) relatively applying the sleeve to a position about the pipe connection so that the coil extends about the connection; b) passing electrical current through the coil to effect induction heating of the connection temperatures within a range of between about 75°F and 500°F; and c) relatively removing the sleeve from said position.
