A method for clarifying an aqueous medium containing suspended material is provided. The method includes dis-persing a treatment additive in the aqueous medium containing the suspended material for coagulating and flocculating the sus-pended material and then separating the suspended material from the treated aqueous medium. The treatment additive includes a crosslinked diallyldialkylammonium halide polymer prepared from solution polymerization and having from about 0.001 molar percent to less than 0.1 molar percent of a crosslinking agent. A treatment additive composition and method for making a treat-ment additive are also provided.
L'invention concerne un procédé de purification d'un milieu aqueux contenant des sédiments en suspension. Le procédé comprend la dispersion d'un additif de traitement dans le milieu aqueux contenant les sédiments en suspension, afin de coaguler et de floculer les sédiments en suspension, et ensuite afin de séparer les sédiments en suspension du milieu aqueux traité. L'additif de traitement comprend un polymère d'halogénure de diallyldialkylammonium réticulé préparé par une polymérisation en solution, et ayant environ 0,001 pour cent molaire à moins de 0,1 pour cent molaire d'un agent de réticulation.
