ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Described herein is a treatment body for the intro- duction into molten metals of treatment agents such as alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, or the like, without incurring heavy losses and without contaminating the molten metal. The treatment body comprises: a carrier body formed of a refractory filler, a binder, a treatment agent which vaporizes at the temperature of the molten metal to be treated, and an organic and/or inorganic fibrous substance which forms a reinforcing reticular structure within the body and makes the body sufficiently porous to facilitate release of the treatment agent contained within the body.
