Biomass is pretreated using a low concentration of aqueous ammonia at high biomass concentration. Pretreated biomass is further hydrolyzed with a saccharification enzyme consortium. Fermentable sugars released by saccharification may be utilized for the production of target chemicals by fermentation.

L'invention concerne un procédé qui comporte les étapes consistant à: prétraiter une biomasse à l'aide d'une faible concentration d'ammoniac aqueux pour une forte concentration de biomasse; hydrolyser davantage la biomasse prétraitée à l'aide d'un ensemble d'enzymes de saccharification. Les sucres fermentescibles libérés par la saccharification sont utilisés pour produire par fermentation des produits chimiques voulus.
