ABSTRACT The present method relates to a method for the in vivo inhibition of SSAO. The method comprises administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of an SSAO inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The invention also comprises a method for the treatment of cardiovascular disorders associated to diabetes, uraemia, gout and arthritis which comprises administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of an SSAO inhibitor to block the formation of formaldehyde in cardiovascular tissues.
