ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus and method for treating dilute metal cyanide solution employs an electrolytic cell with an anode and cathode having an irregular surface for example a mesh structure. The solution for treatment is circulated up through the cell to fluidise a bed of non-conducting particles adjacent the electrodes. The ratio between the effective areas of the cathode and the anode is between 1.3:1 and 2:1.
