ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for improving the permselectivity of polymeric gas separation membranes is disclosed. The process involves contacting the membrane with a fluorocarbon, such as fluorinated ethers, perferably perfluorinated compounds, or a solution of a fluorocarbon and a caulking agent. A process for separating one gas from a mixture of gases comprising bringing the gas mixture into contact with a gas separation membrane whereby one gas of the gas mixture permeates the membrane preferentially to at least one other gas of the gas mixture.
