An apparatus for providing a water vapour-air mixture for treating a hygroscopic material comprising a mixing chamber (10), means for providing air to the mixing chamber (10) at a temperature in the range of 0 to 80 °C and at a pressure in the range of 1 to 3 bar, means for providing steam to the mixing chamber (10) at a temperature in the range of 100 to 250 °C and at a pressure in the range of 1 to 10 bar, the mixing chamber (10) having an outlet in connection with a treatment chamber (50) to provide the treatment chamber (52) with a water vapour-air mixture at a temperature below 200 °C and at a pressure in the range of 1 to 1.5 bar.
