ABSTRACT The invention disclosed relates to a simple readily portable apparatus for use in the treatment of hypothermia in humans. The apparatus includes a generator for a suitable hot respiratory gas and means for administering the respiratory gas to a patient at a controlled rate. Means is also provided for controlling the administration temperature of the respiratory gas. Also disclosed is a method for the production of a suitable hot respiratory gas which comprises oxidizing hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a suitable catalyst and collecting the hot water vapour and oxygen so formed.
