The disclosed invention relates to a composition comprising finely divided particles of an inorganic material treated with a cellulose derivative modified by or containing at least one ionic substituent. The disclosed invention further relates to a method of providing paper of improved brightness. The disclosed invention also relates to a method of providing finely divided particles of inorganic material, treating the particles with a cellulose derivative modified by or containing at least one ionic substituent, and adding the treated particles to cellulose fiber during an alkaline process for making paper. Also, an alkaline paper comprising the finely divided particles of inorganic material treated with the cellulose derivative is disclosed
L'invention se rapporte à une composition comprenant des particules finement divisées d'un matériau inorganique traité avec un dérivé de la cellulose modifié par au moins un substituant ionique ou contenant au moins ce substituant. L'invention se rapporte en outre à un procédé d'obtention de papier ayant une brillance améliorée. L'invention se rapporte encore à un procédé d'obtention de particules finement divisées de matériau inorganique, consistant à traiter ces particules avec un dérivé de cellulose modifié par au moins un substituant ionique ou contenant au moins ce substituant, puis à ajouter les particules traitées à la fibre de cellulose lors de la fabrication du papier par procédé alcalin. L'invention se rapporte enfin à un papier produit par procédé alcalin, comprenant des particules finement divisées de matériau inorganique traitées avec ledit dérivé de la cellulose.
