A method for rendering substrates water repellent by applying to the substrate a composition comprising a mixture formed by combining (i) water or a solvent; (ii) a methylhydrogen-siloxane polymer or copolymer; (iii) an alkoxysilane having the formula RaSi(OR1)4-a in which R represents an alkyl-group containing 1-10 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group containing 2-8 carbon atoms, an aryl group, or an haloalkyl group, a has a value of 1 or 2, and R1 represents an alkyl group containing 1-6 carbon atoms; and (iv) a silicone resin. The compositions can be applied either by direct application to the substrate or by incorporation into the substrate during its manufacture.
L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à rendre des substrats imperméables par application au substrat d'une composition comprenant un mélange formé par combinaison (i) d'eau ou d'un solvant, (ii) d'un polymère ou copolymère méthylhydrogène-siloxane, (iii) d'un alkoxysilane de formule R¿a?Si(OR?1¿)¿4-a? dans laquelle R représente un groupe alkyle de 1 à 10 atomes de carbone, un groupe alcényle contenant de 2 à 8 atomes de carbone, un groupe aryle, ou un groupe haloalkyle, a prend la valeur 1 ou 2, et R?1¿ représente un groupe alkyle contenant de 1 à 6 atomes de carbone, et (iv) d'une résine silicone. Les compositions peuvent être appliquées directement au substrat ou par incorporation au substrat lors de sa fabrication.
