The present invention relates to a method for treating nonalcoholic steatotic hepatitis (NASH) in a subject by administering an effective amount of a lipoprotein lipase (LPL) therapeutic to the subject. The LPL therapeutic is advantageoulsy a S447X protein or a derivative or variant thereof, or a nucleic acid encoding such a protein. The LPL therapeutic may be used in a gene therapy vector.
