ABSTRACT The present invention concerns a process for the treatment of sub- stances in liquid, semi-liquid or paste form, by another, more particularly a gaseous phase. A hot-gas generator is obtained by means of a helicoidal flow which is caused to converge in such a manner as to produce a vortex-sink flow, the phase to be treated being introduced along the axis of revolution of the vortex-sink flow at the outlet from the hot-gas generator. The present inven- tion is particularly applicable to pollution problems.
