- 14 - ABSTRACT Crystalline zeolites of rather highly siliceous nature are enhanced in catalytic activity (Alpha) by treatment with aluminum fluoride, in solid or liquid phase, followed by conversion to the protonated form, zeolites such as ZSM-5 are particularly contemplated. The protonation is advantageously effected by ammonium exchange followed by calcination.
