A B S T R A C T A process whereby a composition comprising polydimethylsiloxane emulsion in water, is applied to an elastomeric polymer surface, such as a rubber balloon. The surface is first stretched to enable absorbtion of the composition, providing protection against oxidation and otherwise enhancing the appearance and performance of the balloon. In addition, the process provides a method of applying colours and fragrances to elastomeric polymer surfaces.
