Compositions and methods for inhibiting vinyl aromatic monomer polymerization during processing are disclosed. The compositions are combinations of a dinitrosalicylic acid derivative and a hydroxylamine compound and are added to the monomer during processing. The preferred composition is 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid or 3,5-dinitrosalicylic methyl ester and bis-(hydroxypropyl)hydroxylamine in a weight ratio ranging from 1:9 to 9:1.

L'invention porte sur des compositions et sur des procédés pour inhiber la polymérisation de monomères vinyliques aromatiques au cours de leur traitement. Les compositions sont des combinaisons d'un dérivé de l'acide dinitrosalicylique et d'un composé de l'hydroxylamine et sont ajoutées au monomère durant son traitement. La composition préférée contient de l'acide 3,5-dinitrosalicylique ou de l'ester méthylique d'acide 3,5-dinitrosalicylique et de la bis-(hydroxypropyl)hydroxylamine selon un rapport pondéral allant de 1:9 à 9:1.
