The invention provides a means of receiving alerts. This method also allows a wider range of people to receive these alerts. The Tree Box is as small or smaller than a typical retail Cable/DSL router for residential use, and has software that will send out a SMS (Short Message Service) alert and or E-mail when pre-set conditions are met. As an example, the Tree Box can be plugged into any device and when that device fails/stops functioning, the user can receive a SMS and or E-mail alert on their cell phone or any other device that can receive an E-mail or SMS.
