ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A tractor supported and driven tree cutting apparatus which causes linear movement of a rotary cutter for cutting a tree trunk from the side portions thereof. The apparatus incorporates a frame structure having a hydraulically driven slide support guided by parallel structural members of the frame. The rotary cutter is rotatably supported by the slide structure and is driven by t h e power take-off of the tractor which is operatively connected to a drive gear mechanism connected to the rotary cutter. The rotary cutter includes cutting teeth angularly mounted about the periphery thereof for cutting the tree trunk below ground level -14-
