ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A Tree Protector consisting of a sheet of material generally frustoconical in shape having an exterior annular projection "C" shaped in cross-section and a radial cut dividing the material into a first portion and a second portion. The exterior annular projection on the first portion is a male segment of a first diameter. The exterior annular projection on the second portion is a female segment of a second and larger diameter than the first diameter. The male segment on the first portion is telescopically received by the female segment on the second portion to maintain the first portion and the second portion of the sheet of material in overlapping engagement thereby forming a truncated cone capable of surrounding the trunk of a tree. A clamp is secured to the female segment of the exterior annular projection, such that the clamp maintains the positioning of the male segment within the female segment until a preset tension is reached.
