TREE STAND ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Tree stands, such as Christmas tree stands, are usually difficult to store and if folding legs are provided, are difficult to erect and usually unstable. This invention includes a square cross-section water retaining cup with tightening screws at the corners and a central spike to stabilize the base of the tree. Folding legs pivot from the inside of the base of the cup and are braced by engaging slots on the lower sides of the base thus eliminating the necessity of leg braces or brackets.
