Trehalose-lipid-2,21,3,4-tetraesters A B S T R A C T A description is given of anionic, surface-active trehalose lipids in which various organic acids are coupled, after the manner of esters, to a trehalose molecule, and of a method for the production thereof by means of micro-organisms which produce trehalose lipids on the base of assimilable hydrocarbons and which are grown aerobically under limiting conditions - but with no limitation of oxygen. The method of the invention produces biosurfactants which are useful for example as oil-field chemicals or in other applications where surfactants are needed.
