ABSTRACT A process is provided for increasing the yield of active cells of Treponema hyodysenteriae by growing such cells in a nutrient medium containing a cholesterol-rich bovine fraction. Killed cells grown in this manner can be used to produce a bacterin which is effective against swine dysen- tery.
