ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Four sealed-beam headlamps are mounted in paired relationship on the front Or the vehicle and energized in various combinations to provide a low-beam, a mid-beam and a high-beam lighting mode each Or which have a light dis- tribution pattern which provides improved illumination of the roadway under various driving and traffic conditions with a minimum of glare. One lamp in each pair Or headlamps contains dual filaments, one of which is used in the low- beam lighting mode and the other of which is used in the high-beam lighting mode. The remaining lamp in each pair contains a single light source and one of these lamps has a dual-segment reflector and serves as a mid-beam lamp. The other single-light-source lamp constitutes a high-beam head- lamp.
