A B S T R A C T TRI-LOAD FRAME (Ref Drw 89-03) This is a device used to increase the carrying capacity of a log hauling truck or trailer. It is a frame that can be adapted to and attached to any existing log hauling truck or trailer. It consists of a steel frame that is attached to the original truck or trailer by a pin jointed connection at one end and has steering axle and wheels at the other end It can be installed either ahead of or behind the trailer axles or behind the truck rear axles. The pin joint of the tri-load frame is mounted on top of the existing log hauling trailer deck. The existing bunks (device that holds the logs) are moved 29" closer to the steering axle of the tri-load frame. The gross payload of the tri-load frame is 6,200 kg. The steering axle of the tri-load frame has a spring centering device that allows the axle to automatically steer left or right and thereby track automatically with the towing vehicle. A shock absorber is attached to one wheel to reduce vibration and shock loads. The frame is mounted to the steering axle using either a walking beam style connection (refer to drawing no. 8841). The automatic steering feature is controlled by the spring centering device shown on drawing 89-02, The bracket labelled "A" is welded to a stationary part of the tri-load frame. The end labelled "B" is attached to the steering arm of the tri-load frame axle. The spring tension is adjustable so that wheel alignment can be adjusted (photos) Please contact me if further information is required. 604-758-6658 604-390-3217
