- 1 - Abstract: The present invention is directed to compounds of the formula: Image wherein A means an alkylene; Y-Z means Image , -CH-CH-, -CH2CH2-. or Image ; R1 and R2 are each a substituent; R3 is a hydrogen atom, alkyl, or alkoxy, R4 is phenyl, phenyl- alkyl, phenylalkenyl, diphenylmethyl, naphthyl, thiazolyl, optionally substituted pyridyl, optionally substituted pyrimidinyl, quinolyl, benzoylalkyl, benzoyl, furoyl, thenoyl, phenyloxycarbonyl, phenyloxysulfonyl, or phenyl- sulfonyl; a is 2 or 3, b and c are each 1 or 2, and d is an integer of 0 to 2, provided that the phenyl, phenyl moiety and naphthyl may optionally be substituted, or a pharmaceu- tically acceptable salt thereof, processes for the preparation thereof, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the same. The compounds and salts thereof show potent calcium antago- nistic activity and are useful for the prophylaxis and treatment of hypertension and/or ischemic heart disease.
